100 Rumors For Your Next D&D Session

DM-ing is one of those things that intimidate me, but still want to try pretty badly. Every DM I asked pretty much says the same thing: “to run any good D&D session, you need to think on your feet.”

But supposing that you absolutely can’t.

I mean, forget not knowing the name of the shopkeeper’s wife who will give your bard that magic ring that you’re still trying to figure out the stats for. What the heck do you do when you don’t have anything interesting for the wife to say when your party asks for any plot leads?

Obviously, a zine can’t automatically install good improv skills. But perhaps this one can give you an edge come your next D&D game.

D&D actually stands for “Dark Secrets and Darker Secrets.”
If only it was a zine of 100 random shopkeeper names….

d100 Rumors is part of Zine Quest 5 on Kickstarter, which had already provided very interesting content. As you can tell from the title, you have a hundred little tidbits you NPC can tell your players.

But this little DM’s helper takes it a step further by dividing rumors into specific categories– general, prison, temple, military and mage. (Thank god, because nothing’s more stressful than blindly flipping through pages while people are watching you.) Every rumor is lore agnostic, meaning that you won’t have to worry about variables such as locations or important characters matching up.

This simple but sweet addition to your DMing tool set is available on Kickstarter until March 3. (It’s goal has since been reached a hundred fold, of course.)
