A Storm is Approaching…

It’s official, Trainers! The Pokémon Sword and Shield series is winding down later this year, with the Pokémon Company having recently revealed its newest and final standard expansion for the series – Silver Tempest!

As is often the case with the English card sets, Silver Tempest will include cards from two of the Japanese expansions, those being Incandescent Arcana and Paradigm Trigger, which are slated to be released in Japan in September and October, respectively. It will also be likely to include any remaining cards cut from our upcoming Lost Origin set.

Releasing internationally on November 11, 2022, Silver Tempest will inject over 190 cards into the format, including:

  • 15 Pokémon V
  • 18 full-art Pokémon V
  • 6 Pokémon VSTAR
  • 1 Pokémon VMAX
  • 3 Radiant Pokémon
  • More than 15 new Trainer cards
  • 30 Trainer Gallery special art cards

This set is expected to showcase some legendaries and fan favorites who haven’t yet received the limelight, including the likes of Lugia VSTAR, Serperior VSTAR, and Regidrago VSTAR. Regieleki will join these in the form of a powerful new VMAX card!
Interestingly, Vulpix and Unown will also receive the VSTAR treatment, as The Pokémon Company continues to show some extra love to less traditionally powerful pocket monsters.

As for the Radiant card line-up, Silver Tempest will introduce variations for Alakazam, Tsareena, and Jirachi. Each of these Pokémon feature powerful new abilities to help turn the tide in battle!

The artists over at Pokémon continue to blow us away with increasingly beautiful artwork, and this set is no exception. Expect to see more of their incredible handiwork across the full art and alternate art cards, and especially in the 30 new Trainer Gallery cards expected in the set. Many of these will surely account for the bulk of new chase cards for collectors!

Silver Tempest will debut on November 11, 2022, following a prerelease from October 26th – November 6th. It will be the last full Generation 8 set to release before we start to see Pokémon Scarlet and Violet products arrive early next year.
