The next Pokemon Trading Card Game expansion set will be called Scarlet & Violet—Obsidian Flames. Obsidian Flames will release worldwide on August 11th, 2023.
The expansion will introduce a new kind of Pokemon to the game: Tera Pokemon ex. Tera cards are versions with altered Energy. These Pokemon will attack using their traditional Energy type, but will have a Weakness from the altered energy.
It’s been reported that not only will there will be a Charizard in this set, but it will be in the form of a Tera ex card!
All told, the set will include:
- 15 Pokemon ex cards
- 6 Tera Pokemon ex cards
- 12 illustration rare cards
- 6 special illustration rare cards
- 12 ultra rare full-art etched cards
- 3 hyper rare gold etched cards
The set will come in the form of booster packs with 10 cards and 1 Basic Energy, and those will come in 36-pack displays, at $161.64. There’ll also be a 6-pack Booster Bundle for $26.94 and Sleeved Booster Packs for $4.49.
